Fabric Shopping in Brighton

Monday, 21 July 2014

A couple of weeks ago I went down to Brighton with my Mum and Grandma to do a bit of fabric shopping - they have a couple of really great fabric shops there. Once we arrived we headed over to a lovely tea room called Blackbird for tea and scones. Along the way I found a lovely old book shop where I managed to pick up a few books for only £3, as you can guess I was feeling extremely satisfied.

Fly Drive: The last leg & General Update

Tuesday, 15 July 2014

I finally broke up from school last thursday, so summer has officially begun! I'm currently staying in the Lake District with some friends at the moment, so expect a post on that soon after I'm back.
This is the last travel journal post from the fly drive -

Fly Drive: Monterey

Wednesday, 9 July 2014

After spending a couple of days in Yosemite, we headed over to Monterey. It was fairly late when we arrived, so we took a short walk along the beach and stopped by a restaurant called Monterey's Fish House, which was great as it combined pasta with seafood - pasta happens to be my utmost favourite.

Fly Drive: Yosemite

Saturday, 28 June 2014

Yosemite had to be my favourite part of the whole trip, the views were absolutely spectacular, which made it extremely hard trying to narrow down photos to include! We woke up early to make the most of our first full day and stopped at the supermarket to pick up some breakfast - a tastey bagel and some fruit, before driving to Yosemite National Park. We drove for about a half hour till reaching the park entrance, and another hour before reaching Yosemite Village.

Fly Drive: San Francisco - Day 2 & 3

Thursday, 19 June 2014

Before I launch into another travel journal post, I just wanted to mention my Recens Paper interview which has been posted, so be sure to check it out here.

The second day in San Francisco started pretty much the same as the first - with a trip to the juice bar for breakfast, although we decided to have a slightly more low key day as the first one had been so action packed. For most of the day we road the trams, getting off at different stops to browse the streets and shops. I loved looking at the houses as most of them were so quirky, so riding the tram was the perfect way to see them.

Fly Drive: San Francisco - Day 1

Wednesday, 11 June 2014

My exams finally finished a couple of weeks ago, and a few days after they finished I took a wonderful trip to America. We drove along Highway 1, starting in San Francisco and finishing in Los Angeles. I thought it would be easier to split the trip up into seperate posts, so this first one will be about San Francisco.

Woodland Creatures

Friday, 16 May 2014

Here are the rest of the photos from my shoot for the art show. The shoot was based on the theme Youth, so I took inspiration from children in costume for tea parties and 'Where the Wild Things are'. Prepping for the shoot was so much fun as I made most of the costumes. For the bird costume I hand sewed Claire a beak and wings, basing it on Suzy's costume in Moonrise Kingdom and the fox ears I made by shaping wire and attatching it to a headband before sewing on the fur. However the antlers were slightly more complex; first I shaped wire and attatched it to a headband and used that as a base for the clay. After the clay had set I painted it and added the flowers.
